G8 urge Pyongyang to immediately return to six-nation negotiations

MOSCOW. June 29 (Interfax-AVN) - G8 foreign ministers have called for the immediate return of Pyongyang to the six-nation negotiations without preconditions.

The currently suspended negotiations bring together North Korea, South Korea, Russia, the United States, China and Japan.

"The foreign ministers have reaffirmed the G8 adherence to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and have voiced full support for the six-nation negotiations. We call on North Korea to immediately return to the negotiations without preconditions, and to cooperate in the fulfillment of the joint statement made on September 19, 2005," says a statement issued by the chairman of the Thursday meeting of the ministers.
