Another trainload of Russian military hardware leaves Georgia

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - One more trainload of military hardware being withdrawn from Russian military bases in Georgia headed to Russia on Tuesday, Colonel Vladimir Kuparadze, the deputy commander of the Russian military force in the Transcaucasus, told Interfax-Military News Agency in Tbilisi on Monday.

"At 9:00 a.m. Moscow time (0600 GMT) the train carrying 15 self-propelled guns from the 62nd base in Akhalkalaki departed from the Tsalka railway station," Kuparadze said.

It is the 14th trainload of military hardware and other property being removed from Russian military bases. Earlier, nine trainloads of equipmnet from the 62nd and 12th Batumi base were sent to Russia through Azerbaijan. Four other trainloads were dispatched to Armenia's Gyumri, where Russia's 102nd military base is located.

A convoy of 14 trucks carrying 66 tonnes of ammunition will depart from Akhalkalaki and head to Gyumri on Thursday.

The Russian military bases are to be removed from Georgia in 2008.
