GROZNY. July 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Thirteen militants were detained and another five killed--all natives of the Dagestan's town of Khasavyurt--in a clash in Chechnya's Nozhai-Yurt district between security forces and militants, according to revised estimates.
A group of militants was detected in a special operation conducted between the Tukhchar community in the Novolaki district and the Ishoi-Yurt community in the Nozhai-Yurt district of Dagestan, a source in law enforcement told Interfax.
Officials say the group was heading to Chechnya to commit major terrorist attacks.
No Russian officer was killed or injured.
Chechen Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov had said earlier that the militants eliminated on the Chechen-Dagestan border were members of the terrorist group of Khairully Elmurzayev from Dagestan.
