KOROLYOV (Moscow region). July 19 (Interfax-AVN) - NASA astronaut Jeffrey Williams and German astronaut Thomas Reiter are getting ready for a space walk, slated for August 3, NASA official Sergei Puzanov told Interfax-Military News Agency at the Mission Control Center.
"The space walk will be made under the U.S. flight mission. The astronauts will wear U.S. spacesuits," Puzanov said.
According to him, the space walk had been planned before Expedition 13 embarked on fulfilling its mission. "Expedition 13 just waited for the German astronaut to arrive at the ISS," he said. Thomas Reiter arrived at the ISS aboard the U.S. Discovery shuttle.
According to Puzanov, spacesuits to be worn by the astronauts were also delivered by the Discovery shuttle.
The Mission Control Center told Interfax-Military News Agency that a communications session, involving Thomas Reiter and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, was slated for 2.30-2.50 p.m. Moscow time (1030-1050 hours GMT) on Thursday.
According to it, Pavel Vinogradov and Jeffrey Williams will also take part in the communications session.
