Georgian military convoy heading to Kodori Gorge

SUKHUMI. July 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Abkhaz army units have been placed on heightened alert due to developments in the Kodori Gorge, Abkhaz First Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Anatoly Zaitsev.

These measures are being taken due to the fact that "a Georgian military convoy, consisting of 30 KamAZ vehicles, 18 Niva vehicles and two armored carriers have been seen heading to the Kodori Gorge," the general said.

The convoy "consists of 800 armed soldiers. Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili and Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Okruashvili are heading the convoy," Zaitsev said.
