Operations in Kodori Gorge not directed against Abkhazia – Nogaideli

TBILISI. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The special operation in the Kodori Gorge is not directed against Abkhazia, Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said in Brussels, where he is currently holding meetings at the NATO headquarters.

"The police operation is being directed against common criminals," he said.

As far as settlements in Abkhazia and South Ossetia are concerned, Georgia will adhere to peaceful methods, Nogaideli said, adding that he had discussed the situation in the Kodori Gorge with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
