IZHEVSK. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - During his Wednesday stay in Izhevsk in the Russian internal republic of Udmurtia, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez visited the small arms museum and exhibition named after Mikhail Kalashnikov.
At the museum he met famous arms designer Kalashnikov, who presented his biography to the Venezuelan leader, an Interfax correspondent reports.
"The Kalashnikov assault rifle is the flag of the Venezuelan armed forces," Chavez said at the meeting.
Later he was taken to the Neftemash oil extraction equipment producer and the Izhmoloko dairy factory.
Earlier on Wednesday Chavez visited the Izhmash corporation and an army firing range where he was given a demonstration of army hardware, namely Tor-M1 and Osa surface-to-air missile systems manufactured at Kupol plant and various types of automatic and small arms made by Izhmash. He was given the opportunity to shoot but declined the offer.
Later on Wednesday Chavez is expected to meet President of Udmurtia Alexander Volkov.
