Train to pull 12 Russian armor pieces out of Georgia

TBILISI. July 31 (Interfax-AVN) - The next train with combat hardware and property of the Russian military bases being withdrawn from Georgia has been prepared for leaving the Tsalka railway terminal, Colonel Vladimir Kuparadze, deputy commander of the Russian military force in Transcaucasia, said on Monday.

"The train's departure is scheduled for early Tuesday. It will deliver to Russia 10 tanks and two IFVs, as well as about 100 tonnes of materiel of the 62nd military base stationed in Akhalkalaki," Kuparadze told Interfax-Military News Agency.

According to him, this will be the 19th train with Russian military hardware to leave Georgia in 2006.

"Moreover, 14 automobiles will carry 66 tonnes of ammunition from Akhalkalaki to the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia's Gyumri on Wednesday," Kuparadze said.

"Twelve trains with hardware, armaments and other property of the 62nd base and the 12nd base in Batumi previously left for Russia and another six left Batumi for the Armenian town of Gyumri, where the 102nd Russian military base is stationed," he noted.

According to the Russian military force headquarters, another six trains are to leave Georgia for Russia before the end of the year.

Under Russian-Georgian accords, the Russian military bases are to be pulled out of Georgia before the end of 2008.
