Russian designers developing future APC

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is working on the development of a future APC, Dmitry Galkin, director general of the Military Industrial Company, said on Tuesday.

"As of today, the Russian Defense Ministry has assigned us the mission to create a new combat vehicle, a new APC," Galkin told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"As we can suppose, the future APC will have a totally different wheel design, and the power plant will most likely be located in the front," he said.

He declined to comment on details of the developments, noting only that "the passenger capacity of the new APC will be standard and amount to a motorized rifle squad."

"Specifications of the new APC's chassis and its power plant will allow it to carry modular armaments of any type or class," Galkin said.

"The new APC will embody the whole research and technical experience of domestic APC developers and new design solutions," he stressed.
