Berlin meeting addresses further steps on Iran nuke problem – Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The political directors of the six nations searching for a solution to the impasse over Iran's nuclear program have met in Berlin to discuss steps to persuade Iran to comply with the demands of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the UN Security Council.

"A meeting of the political directors [deputy foreign ministers from Great Britain, Germany, France, Russia, the United States, and China] took place in Berlin on September 7. It addressed the situation surrounding Iran's implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1696. The participants in the meeting exchanged views on steps that could help persuade Iran to comply with the demands of the IAEA and the UN Security Council," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said.

"Consultations on the issue will continue along with diplomatic efforts to search for options to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem through negotiations," he said.

Kamynin's answers to questions from the media were posted on the Foreign Ministry's website on Friday.
