GROZNY. Sept 8 (Interfax-AVN) - A group of militants is being tracked down in the mountains of south Chechnya, Chechen Interior Ministry press secretary Magomed Deniyev told Interfax on Friday.
"There was a clash this morning near Neftyanka between a group of 10-15 militants, on the one hand, and Battalion Vostok (East) and the military commandant's office, on the other," he said.
One serviceman and one militant were killed in the exchange, several were wounded, he said.
"Chechen Interior Ministry formations arrived at the scene immediately. The woods are being combed and the remaining militants pursued," Deniyev said.
"So far the subordination of the group has not been established," he said.
