BEIRUT. Sept 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian and Lebanese officials agreed all issues concerning the restoration of three bridges by Russian military engineers in Lebanon, Lieutenant General Ivan Tsygankov, the head of the Defense Ministry group in Beirut, told a news conference on Friday.
He said that one of the bridges is about 100 m long and the other two are 60 m long. "No agreement has yet been reached between the Lebanese Defense Ministry and Transportation Ministry on another two bridges. They are undecided which should be rebuilt first of all," he said.
"We are now planning to rebuild six bridges, at least. The delegation is examining three more bridges now," he said.
Agreement has also been reached on the procedures to unload the equipment Russian engineers will bring to Lebanon. "We are waiting for the place to be designated for our military to deploy a camp. Most likely this will be somewhere to the south of Saida," he added.
"When we started the work at sites, we encountered certain hardships arising from the peculiarities of the Lebanese legislation," he said.
"For instance, there is a road and a river. The stripe of 6m wide on their both sides is governmental property, while the rest is private land. The question is where we can put our vehicles, where we can take and store materials. We asked these questions to the Lebanese government, and the officials say there will be no problems with it and all our requests will be satisfied," he said.
