Six Hizb-ut-Tahrir activists detained in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. Sept 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The criminal police in Shymkent, South Kazakhstan, have detained six activists of the banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir radical Muslim organization.

"Six members of the extremist religious party were detained distributing leaflets in public places on September 18 during preventive measures aimed at guaranteeing security, law and order," a Tuesday release of the criminal police says.

Some 500 leaflets and a book were confiscated from the detainees, the release says.
