SEVASTOPOL. Sept 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of U.S. marines, including naval attache of the U.S. embassy in Ukraine Captain II Class Steve Dorff and marines attache Colonel Lieut. Jonathan Sacker, has arrived in Sevastopol.
The goal of the visit is to teach Ukrainian colleagues about the role and responsibilities of professional sergeants in the military education and training of recruits, the press service of the command of the Ukrainian Fleet told Interfax. Ukrainian and U.S. soldiers will discuss at briefings the role of sergeants in the armed forces of both countries and their interaction with officers.
The U.S. guests will visit a training center, the headquarters of a coastal guard brigade and a battalion of marines.
The event is being held as part of a plan of international cooperation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces for September - October 2006 and the program Ukrainian-U.S. contacts in 2006.
