MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Strategic Missile Forces Commander Colonel General Nikolai Solovtsov will inspect the Omsk Missile Army on October 9-19, the Strategic Missile Forces Public Relations Service told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"The inspection, headed by the Strategic Missile Forces commander, envisions a four-day command post exercise. The exercise is aimed at refining deployment of mobile ground-based Topol missile systems and simulated missile launches," an official said.
According to him, the exercise will involve in excess of 2,000 servicemen and over 400 vehicles.
"In addition to that, on October 10-15 the Barnaul and the Novosibirsk Missile Armies will host an exercise of reserve reconnaissance and security units. A total of over 600 reservists will be mobilized to take part in the exercise," he said.
The Omsk Missile Army is armed with RS-12M Topol missile systems and RS-20 Voyevoda heavy silo-based ICBMs.
