TSKHINVALI. Oct 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Given the mine warfare situation aggravated in the conflict zone, military engineers of the Russian peacekeeping battalion have conducted an inspection of the road in their responsibility sector in South Ossetia.
"In connection with the recent blowing up of an improvised explosive device nearby the Kekhvi village, in which its local citizen was hurt, the military engineering of the Russian peacekeeping battalion have carried out a check in their responsibility zone. Six PMN-2 anti-personnel mines were found and disarmed by blasting during the sweep," Vladimir Ivanov, assistant commander of the Collective Peacekeeping Force in the conflict zone, told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
According to him, a group of peacekeeping force's inspectors of Russian, Georgia and North Ossetian representatives and representatives of the OSCE observer mission went to the place where the IED blasted to get to know the details of the accident.
