KYIV. Oct 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko has signed an ordinance mandating another test of knowledge of the Ukrainian language in the armed forces.
"Several days ago Hrytsenko signed an ordinance mandating a test of knowledge of the Ukrainian language in the armed forces in order to encourage the use of the Ukrainian language in the military and respect for the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people," the ministry's press service said on Monday.
He said that society was very concerned with the level of knowledge of the Ukrainian language at military schools.
"Military schools are making very little use of uncustomary forms of popularization of the Ukrainian language amongst cadets," he said.
