Air Force Central Command Post to be upgraded - commander

MOSCOW. Oct 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The Central Command Post of the Russian Air Force will be upgraded, Air Force Commander-in-Chief Army General Vladimir Mikhailov said on Thursday.

"The Central Command Post is improving. We are constructing a new building for it, with the most up-to-date control systems inside. And the old premises, with their huge dimensions, will be turned into a playground after clearing it from equipment of the late 1940s and 1950s. The dimensions are enormous, and this allows us to do everything on the most up-to-date level, and even with a look forward," Mikhailov told reporters.

The Central Command Post is located in the Balashikha district of the Moscow region. It is the place from which a command post exercise of control bodies and on-duty forces of the CIS Unified Air Defense System is supervised on Thursday.

Lieutenant General Aitech Bizhev, Air Force deputy commander-in-chief, said the Central Command Post "fully monitors the aerial situation on the territory of the former Soviet Union and adjacent nations." "We get information from all possible sources, up to missile attack warning systems reporting to the Space Forces. The Air Force commander-in-chief knows everything about the situation in space and in the air," he said.
