Putin, Yushchenko to meet in Ukraine soon - Lavrov (Part 3)

KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian and Ukrainian presidents will meet in Kyiv in the near future, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"As for the dates, the decision is up to the presidents. There is an agreement that they should meet in Kyiv, or at least in Ukraine," Lavrov said following talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Borys Tarasyuk in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The meeting between the two presidents is to be preceded by sessions of all sub-commissions within the interstate commission, including those concerning humanitarian affairs and security, he said.

"I believe the interstate commission at the presidential level will soon sum up the results of the work that has been actively developing within the framework of the sub-commissions," he said.

A source close to the negotiations told Interfax that Kyiv expects Putin to visit Ukraine in early December, which, according to the source, was discussed at a meeting between Lavrov and Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych earlier on Wednesday.
