Russian military hq in Transcaucasia to be transformed into operations team

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The headquarters of the Russian military force in Transcaucasia will be transformed into an operations team, force commander Major General Andrei Popov told reporters on Monday.

"After the transformation of the force headquarters into an operations team, its strength will amount to 13 people, while the headquarters only had 10," Popov said.

The location for the team has not been chosen yet, he noted. "It will be stationed either in Akhalkalaki, where the 62nd Russian military base is located, or in Batumi, where the 12th Russian military base is," he said.

Army General Anatoly Grebenyuk, head of the Armed Forces quartering and accommodation service, said, "facilities capable of housing the operations teams are ready in both Akhalkalaki and Batumi."
