South Ossetian referendum has international significance – Russian lawmaker

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The outcome of Sunday's independence referendum in South Ossetia is very important, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Andrei Kokoshin told the press on Monday.

"Although the results of the referendum were apparent and predictable, they are very important and must be taken into consideration. These are serious results, not only for Russia and Georgia, but also for the entire international community," he said.

According to preliminary information, almost all voters called for independence for South Ossetia.
