MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The food acquisition auction for the Russian Armed Forces will be held for the first time within the framework of the 6th All-Russian Exhibition of Army and Navy Suppliers, opened in Moscow on Thursday.
"It is the first time this year that during the exhibition the Acquisition and Order Center of the Russian Armed Forces' Logistics Department will hold an auction for acquisition of food for the Armed Forces for 2007," Colonel General Dmitry Bulgakov, first deputy director of the Logistics Department, said in his opening speech at the exhibition.
The exhibition, which has become traditional, is a very significant event in light of the country's leadership decision to adopt an interagency approach to the issues of logistics support of its uniformed agencies.
More than 200 Russian companies from 39 regions of the country, as well as manufacturers from Belarus, Latvia, Poland and Slovenia take part in the exhibition. They demonstrate uniforms, foodstuffs, medicines, fire-fighting equipment, automation and monitoring systems, new achievements in science and technology, which they can offer to the Russian Armed Forces.
