MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Establishment of Regional Command East has been completed in the Russian Armed Forces, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Thursday.
"Establishment of Regional Command East on a permanent basis has effectively been completed in the framework of the experiment aimed at transition from military districts to inter-branch regional forces," Ivanov told a conference of army and navy commanders in Moscow.
Legal acts regulating the regional command's activity have been worked out and put into effect, he said.
The experience obtained during the experiment will help made the decision on the expediency of creating similar commands in the western and southern strategic theaters of operation, Ivanov noted.
