MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Indonesia and Russia will sign an interstate treaty on peaceful space exploration in 2007. The document will become the basis for the follow-up bilateral space cooperation agreement.
"First, Russia and Indonesia will sign an agreement on peaceful space cooperation. The document is being coordinated. I hope the work will be completed next year," deputy head of the Russian Federal Space Agency Viktor Remishevsky told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
The agreement paves the way for a bilateral agreement on space cooperation, Remishevsky said.
Commenting on space cooperation with Malaysia, Remishevsky noted that it primarily envisioned training Malaysian astronauts. "They have been selected and, as far as I know, they have embarked on the training program," he pointed out. He said that Asia-Pacific states stood a good chance of taking part in international space exploration.
