About 450 servicemen killed in Russian Armed Forces this year

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax-AVN) - As many as 446 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces have been killed in 16,443 crimes and accidents this year, the Defense Ministry's official web-site reported on Monday.

As many as 1,556 crimes and accidents resulting in 41 casualties were registered in the army and navy in October, the report reads.

Most of the casualties - 27 people - resulted from suicides (24 casualties in September). Seven people were killed in accidents (34 in September). Hazing was the cause of death of three servicemen (one in September), while two more fell victims of manslaughter (three in September). Two people were killed as a result of traffic rules violations (the same number in September).

Moreover, one soldier was killed in Chechnya in October. As many as 55 servicemen have died and one gone missing in Chechnya this year, the report says.
