Russian enterprises to exhibit armament for aviation, land forces in Indonesia

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian companies will exhibit their best products at the Indo Defense 2006 Expo & Forum, due to take place in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta from Wednesday to Saturday, the press-service of the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader has reported.

Over 450 firms and organizations from more than 30 countries were invited to the event sponsored by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, the report reads..

The aviation section of Rosoboronexport's stand will exhibit the whole export line of Sukhoi aircraft, including the Su-30MK multi-role fighter, Su-39 attack aircraft, and Su-32 strike fighter. The guests and exhibitors will also be able to get acquainted with unique capabilities of the Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainer.

Prominent among the Russian exhibits will be attack, transport/assault and reconnaissance helicopters from Mil and Kamov: Mi-35, Mi-35P and Mi-35M combat/transport helicopters, Mi-17V-5 military transport, and Ka-28 shipborne helicopter.

Experts will definitely take interest in unique operational capabilities of the Mi-28NE attack day/night helicopter able to fly at extremely low altitudes as well as of the Mi-26 super-heavy transport designed to airlift troops together with combat equipment and carry up to 20 tons of cargoes.

The Russian stand's experts will familiarize persons interested with performance specifications of the Mi-35M transport/combat helicopter, a derivative of the famous Mi-35 transport/combat helicopter. Equipping the helicopter with more powerful cannon system has significantly enhanced its anti-tank and fire support capabilities.

Rosoboronexport's section will widely display a variety of air defense weapons. The visitors will get comprehensive information on medium- and short-range SAM systems like Buk M1-2, Tor-M1, Osa-AKM and Igla MANPADS.

The Land Forces part of the Russian exposition includes infantry combat vehicles and armored personnel carriers, assault combat vehicles, armored repair and recovery vehicles, multiple launcher systems (MRLs), SP artillery guns and howitzers, anti-tank missile and missile/gun air defense systems, small arms and close-in weapons. Among them are the T-90S MBT, BMP-3 IFV, BMD-2 and BMD-3 ACVs, BTR-90, BTR-80 and BTR-80A APCs, and 2S19 Msta-S 152 mm SP howitzer.

Rosoboronexport's representatives will familiarize the stand visitors with Russian upgraded multiple rocket launchers. The Grad and Smerch MRLs meet the latest warfare requirements and can destroy practically all kinds of modern ground targets with minimum ammunition expenditure and high accuracy. Integrated employment of a MRL with the Pchela-1 remotely piloted vehicle offered by Russian designers provides real time target acquisition and engagement with far improved overall combat effectiveness.

Specialists can also get a complete idea of a broad range of Russian infantry combat vehicles, including the upgraded BMP-2 and BMP-3.

Considering an increased worldwide interest in the latest models of special weapons and special equipment in the context of domestic security protection and effective fight against terrorism, Rosoboronexport will exhibit the most competitive models of general-purpose and special small arms. World-known models of highly effective small arms like Kalashnikov AK-100 series 5.56 and 7.62 mm assault rifles and Dragunov sniper rifles can be singled out among the exhibits. At the Corporation's stand, visitors will show the SPP-1M underwater pistol. It features high piercing performance of ammunition reached through original bullet design and optimal ballistic solution. Aimed fire from the pistol is possible with any position of a frogman. The weapon can be successfully employed on land as well.

The Russian exposition will showcase the broad capabilities of the national defense industry in provision of space launch services. Those who are interested will be able to get information on several Russian launching vehicles - Cosmos-3M, Rokot, Dnepr, etc.

The participation of Russia, represented by Rosoboronexport and other Russian defense industry enterprises, in the second Indo Defense Expo & Forum in Indonesia signals its readiness to actively cultivate this promising arms market, consistently develop and strengthen military-technological cooperation with all countries in Southeast Asia, the report reads.
