Georgian border guards release Russian ship after captain pays fine

TBILISI. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian ship Sormovsky 116, earlier detained in Georgian territorial waters, has been released, Georgian police told Interfax on Tuesday.

The captain of the ship had to pay a fine of $37,000.

The Sormovsky 116 was detained on November 15 after an oil and used lubricant leak was detected in the waters of the port of Poti

Fourteen members of the crew were Russian. During the detention of the ship all of them had the right to free movement around the port of Poti.
