Ukrainian warship rounds up preparations for NATO’s Operation Active Endeavor

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ternopol corvette of the Ukrainian Navy has completed a 10-day exercise in the Mediterranean Sea in the framework of preparations for the NATO-led anti-terrorist operation called Active Endeavor, the Defense Ministry's press service told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

The ship called at the Suda Bay naval base of the Greek Navy on Monday and started preparations for returning to Ukraine.

The three-day independent patrol mission near the Greek islands of Rosos and Carpathos highlighted the Ternopol's exercise in the Mediterranean.

The training program was rounded up by brief monitoring of trade navigation. Proceeding from some provisions of international naval law, the Ukrainian ship's crew examined several trade ships. The procedure was carried out in accordance with the algorithm used by the ships participating in Active Endeavor. Reports were submitted to the headquarters of the NATO Command South in Naples.

Italy's Comandante Cigala Fulgozi patrol boat was the Ternopol's training partner during the entire exercise.
