Ukraine, China to discuss cooperation in space exploration in December

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian and Chinese officials will meet in Beijing in December to discuss implementation of the cooperation plan for peaceful space exploration for 2006-2010, the Ukrainian National Space Agency told Interfax on Tuesday.

According to the agency, the first session of the working group on the plan's implementation will focus on joint realization of Project Warning, which provides for studying fundamental processes in Earth's ionosphere and magnetosphere.

The cooperation plan was signed at the fifth session of the Ukrainian-Chinese subcommission on cooperation in peaceful space exploration in Beijing in June. It provides for joint realization of 29 projects aimed at developing carrier rockets, satellites and space hardware, as well as working together in space science and electronics.

The next session of the subcommission is due in 2007 in Kyiv.
