MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) - A law should be passed to exercise control over incomes and property belonging to officials of law enforcement services and courts and their family members, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies in the Kremlin on Tuesday.
"The time has come to pass a law that would introduce requirements and bans regarding representatives of law enforcement agencies and the judicial system that have been officially approved both in Russia and abroad," he said.
"In particular, I am speaking about control over incomes and property owned by officials of law enforcement agencies and courts and their family members," Putin said.
The requirement is envisioned in the common standards for the fight against corruption in police bodies that were adopted by Interpol's General Assembly in 2002, the president said.
"It is no less important to pass a law to protect officials of law enforcement agencies and courts from excessive interference in their work from various groups of citizens and senior officials at all levels," he said.
