Sukhoi offering Su-30MK2 fighter to Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The Sukhoi Aviation Holding Company is going to demonstrate its new super-agile Su-30MK2 fighter at the Indo Defense 2006 Expo & Forum that opened in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"The Su-30MK2 is a new modification of the renowned Su-30, which we are offering to Indonesia and other foreign partners," Vadim Razumovsky, Sukhoi's deputy director general, told Interfax-AVN.

He recalled that the Indonesian Air Force bought two Su-27SK and two Su-30MKs from Russia. "We are willing to supply a new batch of aircraft to Indonesia. The negotiations are now under way," he said.

According to him, Sukhoi thinks of Indonesia as of an important strategic partner. "Our Indonesian clients have repeatedly been saying they are going to continue acquiring Sukhois. This was confirmed again by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during the visit to our exposition," Razumovsky said.

The president said that he is familiar with the Su-30 fighter and the country is going to continue buying them.
