Ukraine remains determined to join NATO – president

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has assured NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer that European and Euro-Atlantic integration remains Ukraine's strategic course.

Yushchenko told de Hoop Scheffer by telephone that leading Ukrainian political parties were involved in a current debate on when the country would be ready to accept an invitation to join NATO's membership action plan, the Ukrainian president's press service told Interfax.

Yushchenko confirmed an invitation for de Hoop Scheffer to visit Ukraine in 2007.
