BREST. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Plans for more "military technological assistance" by Russia to Collective Security Treaty Organization member states will receive consideration at a planned meeting on Thursday of the defense ministers of CSTO countries, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said.
"This primarily means Russian military technological assistance to CSTO members that need it, both as direct supplies of armaments and military equipment and as gratuitous training of military personnel at the higher educational establishments of the Defense Ministry," Ivanov told reporters in Brest, venue of the planned meeting.
"As for the CSTO, we are looking at a new field - military technological assistance. This mechanism has been working successfully for the past two years," he said.
Ivanov said Brest would also be the site of a planned meeting on Thursday of the Defense Ministers Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, whose agenda includes building up joint air defenses and communications systems for the CIS and peacekeeping missions in the Commonwealth.
