BREST. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov has hailed the decision to remove a lot of Soviet medals and orders from an auction at Sotheby's.
"We thank the UK government for taking a decision to remove them from the auction," the minister told journalists on Thursday in Brest.
"The United Kingdom showed that it understands the essence of the issue and is ready to give assistance in finding the truth: the way the awards were obtained by Sotheby's and who they were awarded to," he said.
"As defense minister, I gave a relevant order, including to the Central Military Archive, to establish the provenance of the awards," Ivanov said.
