MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The Federation Council has approved of the amendments to the law on 2006 federal budget, envisaging an additional allocation of 33.7 billion rubles ($1.2 billion) for defense and security this year, Viktor Ozerov, the head of the Defense and Security Committee of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, told Interfax-AVN.
"About 24.1 billion rubles ($893 million) will go for the national defense and another 9.5 billion ($351 million) for security and law enforcement," he said.
He added that the money is expected to be used in fulfillment of the federal program on shifting to all-volunteer manning, and also for the acquisition of fuel and lubricants combat vehicles.
