MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The total number of militants remaining in Chechnya could be up to 1,000, Colonel General Nikolai Rogozhkin, Interior Ministry Forces commander-in-chief, told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"There are between 800 and 1,000 members of illegal armed groups in Chechnya," the commander said.
"They could be staying in either mountains or on the plains. They are moving all the time and many militants are trying to register in villages and cities," he said.
