AirUnion, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft sign contract on 15 Superjet 100 aircraft

KRASNOYARSK. Dec 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The AirUnion Aviation Alliance and the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company signed a contract on delivering 15 Superjet 100 aircraft at the Siberian SAS 2006 air show on December 9.

The contract signed is worth over $400 million. It envisions the delivery of 15 95-seat Superjet 100s, and an option for 15 more aircraft of the same type.

The first aircraft is to be delivered in November 2008. The first 15 aircraft are expected to operate in Russia, while the next 15 Superjet 100s will fly on European airlines.

"We are sure that we have made the right choice. Expanding the airline network, entering the international market, developing new airlines, and providing passengers with comfort and flight safety make revamping the aircraft fleet one of the top priorities," Krasnoyarskie Avialinii air carrier Director General Boris Abramovich noted.

AirUnion comprises such air carriers as Krasnoyarskie Avialinii, Domodevoskie Avialinii, Omskavia, Samara, and Sibaviantrans.
