Space must be free from weapons – Putin

NEW DELHI. Jan 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Space must be free from weapons, President Vladimir Putin told a Thursday news conference in New Delhi.

"As for the recent tests in the People's Republic of China, Russia is confident that space must be free from weapons," he said.

China was not the first to conduct such tests, Putin said. "As far as I know, the first tests were done at the end of the 1980s. We still hear about space militarization plans from the U.S. defense community," he said.

"We must not let that genie out of the bottle," Putin said.
