MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian State Duma Chairman and United Russia party leader Boris Gryzlov does not exclude the possibility of discussing a Lunar mission in the future.
"We have never discussed outer earth issues, but we can discuss this as a future project," Gryzlov said at a meeting with employees of the Gagarin cosmonaut training center at Zvyozdny when answering questions.
Shatalov said that Russian scientists and space researchers should to pay closer attention to the possibility of developing the Moon. U.S., Chinese and Indian scientists, according to their strategic plans, plan to explore the Moon with a view to using its energy resources, Shatalov said.
"Twelve people visited the Moon, and they brought 14 kilograms of lunar ground, and after analysis it became clear that it includes helium-3," Shatalov said. This element could be used as a source of energy, he said.
In this connection Shatalov asked Gryzlov to support Russia's lunar program.
