MINSK. March 12 (Interfax-AVN) - An Ilyushin Il-76 jet of the Belarussian transport company Transaviaexport was attacked during landing in Somalia, a source at the Transport and Communications Ministry's aviation department told Interfax on Monday.
"The plane came under fire at the height of 150 meters during landing in Somalia. According to preliminary information, the assailants were using a shoulder-held anti-aircraft missile system or a mobile grenade launcher," he said.
The plane successfully landed, and no one was hurt. However, the fuselage was damaged.
A delegation of Belarussian aviation authorities and insurance companies has left for Somalia.
