TBILISI. March 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian Parliament has adopted a ruling upholding a memorandum signed on Monday by the leaders of all parliamentary factions calling for cooperation between the authorities and opposition to be strengthened to help the country's NATO accession plans.
"The process of integration with NATO will help us solve virtually every problem, starting from continuing democratic process to restoring the country's territorial integrity," parliamentary speaker Nino Burjanadze said.
Talks of a neutral Georgia, given the present situation, are irrelevant. "We should take which region we live in, and how feasible Georgia's neutrality is in the environment surrounding it, into account," Burjanadze said.
"Neutrality is incompatible with the tasks and principles important for Georgia and its aspirations towards Western values," she said.
"We do not see NATO accession as a danger for any neighboring countries, on the contrary, NATO, being a democratic organization, will become a guarantor of stability and safety of all countries in the region," Burjanadze said.
