U.S. not planning nuclear tests, but reserves right to do so – Sell

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The United States is not planning to carry out more nuclear tests, but reserves the right to do so in the future, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Clay Sell said at Moscow's Carnegie Center on Wednesday.

The U.S. does not plan to stage any nuclear tests and absolutely adheres to the ban on such tests, but finds it necessary to maintain a certain reserve of nuclear weapons, Sell said, noting that he was speaking about the replacement of the old weapons, not about new weapons.

The United States, like Russia, reserves the right to resume nuclear tests, but hopes this will never happen, Sell said.
