Anti-terrorist exercises due to begin in Southwestern Russia

MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Anti-terrorist exercises involving aviation and air defense forces will take place on the Kapustin Yar and Ashuluk training fields in the Astrakhan region on April 3-14, assistant commander of the North Caucasus military district Andrei Bobrun told Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"It is planned to test the practical use of the guidelines of the Federal Law on the Suppression of Terrorism," he said.

The exercises will assess the anti-terrorist capabilities of regional forces. They will involve the military command, forces of the North Caucasus military district, the Air Force, the Air Defense and Interior Ministry Forces, which are required to prevent terrorist threats in Southwestern Russia, the source said.
