MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The formation of a South Ossetian "alternative administration" in Georgia is a provocation aimed at escalating the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, South Ossetian representatives from the Joint Control Commission (JCC) said in a statement posted on the South Ossetian government's official website on Thursday.
"We have learnt that the Georgian Parliament, with the president's proposal, has passed a law on forming a " temporary administration in South Ossetia" with the appointment Dmitry Sanakoyev as its head, to in effect replace former head of the Kurta council administration Nodar Kochishvili, who is facing criminal charges for embezzlement," the statement says.
"Tbilisi officials are clearly aware of the absence of political prospects and the practical uselessness of such methods in resolving the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, yet they are implementing them in order to further complicate the situation," it says.
