MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian armed forces lost 45 servicemen in accidents and crimes in May, 2007, compared to 29 in April, 2007, the Defense Ministry reported on its official website on Saturday.
There were 1,483 crimes and accidents in the armed forces in May, it said.
A total of 184 people were killed in the Russian armed forces in January-May, 2007.
One serviceman died in line of service duty in Chechnya in May. A total of 30 Defense Ministry servicemen died in Chechnya in January-May 2007. Since the start of the antiterrorist operation in Chechnya in 1999, as many as 3,633 servicemen have been killed, and 31 more servicemen have gone missing.
