Energia to continue working on new generation spacecraft - president

KOROLYOV (Moscow region). August 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian space rocket corporation Energia will continue designing a new generation spacecraft, Vitaly Lopota, who was elected Energia president on Tuesday, told journalists.

"I think we will specify the exterior of a manned spaceship and present our proposals to Roscosmos [the Russian Federal Space Agency] in the near future. I think this will happen this year," Lopota said.

The corporation is not planning to exhibit its 'Kliper' spacecraft at the MAKS-2007 aerospace show outside Moscow, he said.

"I can say that we will not exhibit the 'Kliper'. We will carefully analyze this idea, which the previous corporation head Yury Semyonov offered earlier, within the coming months," Lopota said.
