MINSK. Aug 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia did not give up the idea of forming a single air-defense system with Belarus, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov said in an interview with Interfax.
"An agreement was ready for signing at the end of last year. But the signatory on the Belarusian side had no powers to do so and has yet to receive them," the Russian ambassador said.
"We understand the Belarusian side is weighing the plan. The Russian position has not changed. I think the issue is waiting to be discussed by the two presidents," said Surikov.
