Fradkov tenders government’s resignation

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has tendered his and the current government's resignation to President Vladimir Putin.

Fradkov explained his decision by upcoming major political events and his desire to give the president a free hand in making decisions, including those on appointments of key government officials.

Putin said in reply, "Indeed, the country is approaching parliamentary elections, which will then be followed by presidential ones.
