KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's tests of a new vacuum bomb continue the demonstration of its military and political might, Director of the Ukrainian Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research Center Valentyn Badrak told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The tests of a new Russian bomb are not an isolated event. They should be viewed as a link in the chain of Russia's demonstration of its defense and military-political might. This is how we view the flights of Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bombers near U.S. bases, major exercises of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the installment of the Russian flag under the North Pole," he said.
This is Russia's response to growing U.S. influence in former Soviet republics and the formation of a bloc oriented toward Washington rather than Moscow.
The United States has fully detached Georgia from Russian foreign policy, it sees its future in NATO. "U.S. facilities may be deployed in Europe, and the United States will be able to monitor Russia with its radar stations," he said.
However, Ukraine should not worry about the growth of Russian military might, he said.
