Novosibirsk Instrument-Building Plant displays optical devices at London arms show

LONDON. Sept 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The Novosibirsk Instrument-Building Plant (NPZ) is exhibiting a nigh-vision device and infrared thermal imaging systems, boasting unrivaled capabilities, at the DSEi'2007 arms show in London, head of the NPZ Foreign Trade Department Kim Shvarts told Interfax-AVN.

"NPZ is demonstrating the 1PN100 day/night sight for the Kalashnikov assault rifle and the 1PN114 day/night sight for the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle," he said.

The uniqueness of the sights consists in the fact that they can be used both at night and in daytime. Similar western sights have to be fitted with a night eye-piece to be used at night.

The nigh sights have a range of up to 1,000 m, and are fitted with an optronic converter for enhancing target illumination.

NPZ jointly with Rosoboronexport is taking part in a big-ticket Indian tender on exporting nigh-vision devices. "NPZ has a good chance of winning the Indian tender, which will provide it with enough work for the next five or more years," he said.
